Great chapter. The only thing I’m worried about is how they’re going to kill the emporer now that he’s even more outragiously large. Seriously, the guy’s a thousand feet tall! Miura sure does love insanely huge bad guys.
thing is who do you guys wanna win here? Im hoping that the emperor is gonna take out a huge chunk of the apostles, at the mo im not sure how many of them Guts will be able to take without sacrificing himself or becoming like the skull knight…

The thing is that the emporer may be possessed by hell- and that’s going to be bad for pretty much everyone. Whether he kills all the apostles or not Guts will still have to kill him in the end- wait, maybe Griffith will do that. But this still means we’re gonna be following Griffith for a while, and I wanna find out what Elf-hell is like!
It’s very possible that even in his rediculously over-sized form, that he’ll still be no match for griffith, not that I’m a fan of him or anything. We’ve already seen how relatively bad-ass his apostles are, but we’ve barely seen griffith himself actually ‘fight’. I just wish that the chapters came out faster, I’m so impatient and want to know what happens next!
Certainly doesn’t seem like the series is going to wrap up anytime soon…And for the love of god could we cut Guts a break every now and then? How long has he been fighting his ass off without getting laid?

Agreed Dante. Guts needs to have some down time. Farneze should work the sidelines and throw herself at Guts. The old Caska was awesome, but after twenty volumes of her wandering about like retard, I could care less about her. Kill her off, that would probably allow Guts to tap into powers that would eventually allow him to topple Fairy ass Griffiths and his apostle’s. Slan’s infatuation with Guts is interesting as well. It seems to hint at dischord amongst the Godhand, and that could make for an interesting story arc as well. However, as my forum name indicates I am biased towards anything dealing with Slan. On another note, the wait for these chapters is fucking ridiculous. Does the gimp from Pulp Fiction illustrate these damn chapters or what, cause it is insane. Yet, the time spent on these chapters reveals itself with the exquisite quality of art, character development, and plot line. In the end it boils down to this, Berserk FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t get the gimp from Pulp Fiction illustrates these chapters. As for Slan, she is a sadist and has some weird thing of mixing sex with pain (as seen in Qliphoth).
If you think about it, there are alot of girls that like that. I’ve experienced it, not my type of girl but i know many that do.
I’m just glad they actually gave Guts some more team-mates, I thought he wouldn’t have to work as hard, but it’s like the exact opposite.
I’m just hoping he doesn’t have the witch girl (what’s her name again I forget..) and guts have some sort of sick pedo relation since she’s crushing on him hard.
I don’t think Farneze wants him anymore, she’s realized that he’s totally in it to win it with Caska and that’s it, unless she gets posessed again lmao.
I totally agree, the old Caska was fucking sweet. As bad as it sucked that Griffith raped her (When I first read/saw that I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so pissed at a storyline but you have to respect an author for making you dislike an evil character that much.) it’d be nice if they could do something with Caska other than 27 near-rape encounters…Just off the top of my head… there’s when Guts kills the 100 soldiers she’s almost, there’s the apostle after they rescue griffith, griffith actually rapes her, there’s when she wanders into that group of thieves and rage-kills em, there’s the goat lord in the cave, guts almost rapes her, and I’m sure there’s a couple more…
Her wandering around like an idiot not saying a word for 20 volumes and not letting Guts get laid sucks. I hadn’t thought of anything with Slan.. that’s an interesting point.
Also.. here’s a question.. With griffith riding around on his horse all over midland like a panzy, is that ACTUALLY griffith, or is there one griffith and one femto? If that makes sense…
It just seems that with how much there is left to do (And the volumes / chapters hardly make any huge leaps in time or development) and how long it takes for a single chapter to come out (20 pages if you’re lucky…) that this series will be going for another 10+ years…
Well, Griffith does seem pansier now. And that is pretty much the reincarnation of Griffith from Guts’s child and the egg of a perfect world.
In regards to the gimp comment I was merely stating that the time to put out one chapter is excruciating. I am an avid manga reader, and very few even come close to holding a candle to the immaculate design and quality of Berserk.
That’s why Berserk is one hell of a manga. I’m lovin’ it like no other manga and I’m planning to pay to get all the original volumes whenever they come hell yeah.
Seriously, this chapter was astonishing. I can’t wait for the next!! I agree with slan’s fanboy creating a chapter of Berserk takes a shit load of time and effort. Just look deeper in the drawings and you’ll notice that.. this work is so crazy I must admit.
Oh I absolutely love the artwork, I can definitely appreciate how much time it must take (Given my barely able to draw stick-figures capability.) I’m just impatient and want to know more of the storyline and what’s going to happen!
Well chances are that it will be quite a while before Berserk is good and done. Everything is hand drawn, the story comes from the mind of one man and one man only. So give the guy a break.
I know that Guts was Caska’s first but I think that Caska’s child is the prince of darkness. I mean come on, what do you think would happen if a girl got raped by a celestial demon plus the fact that the child is deformed and chose to be evil. Why else would Gut’s hate it so much.
As for Griffith, he’s completely in the human world, in order to be there he has possessed his sons body. Therefore he is mortal, at least his physical form.
I never knew that Griffith’s soul is currently in his SON’S body. If Guts was Caska’s first then what are the chances of Guts having a child from her? The situation got complicated when Griffith raped Casca and the deformed creature coming out of her and later the cute little mysterious child standing in front of the beach. Who was he after all?
Agreeing with Xemnarth, I’ve always thought that mysterious boy (who stopped the creatures from attacking Guts’ party) was the mutated child that Casca gave premature birth to.. but then again that was never made clear. Guess we’re just going to have to wait and find out.
Now that you guys have put it that way, i’m not sure if the deformed child is Gut’s or Griffith’s. Maybe it’s Gut’s child but after Griffith raped Caska the baby came out prematurely or something. I dont know. I guess we really will have to see.
On the case of that little girl. I have no idea but she does look alot like Caska…
what wavering said is right i read over the manga a few times it clearly states that the deformed baby is gutts child that was corrupted by femto, also look here on wikipedia at casca’s child:

also, i think, griffith to femto is kinda like jesus to god they are the same person, yet griffith is the son of femto.
last things i have say is slan is hot, casca needs to buck up and stop being so helpless and gutts has to get laid preferably slan so that he could get more power to defeat femto and then have crazy warrior babies with casca

If that is so then who’s the other mysterious child? He is a normal kid who looks like Casca and was moved by Guts actions. I can’t remember in which chapter he appeared excatly but I’m sure he did for at least one chapter and then disappeared. I feel there is a strange aura surronding him.
I know what you’re talking about. When they were attacked by the Caiman(alligator men) and Gut’s went Berserk. There was that spirit that showed up and stopped him from attacking everyone. It was probably the child (which dissapeared after the battle). Spooky, Ghost! haha

that was a weird movie, weird, but good. anyways what about that time when griffith had first started his new life in the human world? when guts was fighting zodd and the rocks were crushing down on Caska, Griffith came to the rescue. He wouldn’t have done it on his own, it was like “Are the feelings of the body i have inhabited” or something like that.

i couldn’t find this scene in the chapters, is it around chapter 175 or an earlier one. if this is true i would have to rethink alot of what i though was going on. in 175 were gutts sees griffith for the first time grifith is taken away by zodd.
okay, its after Guts sees Griffith fly off with Zodd. It’s the second time Guts sees griffith in “The Graveyard of Swords” he goes back to the old man’s house with Pak and sees the little girl(the name leaves me) and she tells him that Ricket went with the most remarkable man. Gut’s knows it’s him and runs all the way there. Gut’s gets out his sword and Ricket gets in the way. Then Zodd gets in the way. They fight (awesome ass fight). Zodd transforms, Caska enters picture, Guts tries to protect Caska, gets chased by Zodd, Griffith watches like a spectator (calm as ever). Then, Zodd crashes through a boulder, rocks falling everywhere, huge rock about to crash on Caska and Guts cant reach her. Griffith saves her using his arm and cape. Then he gives that though “are these the feeling of the body i have inhabited?” and yada yada yada.
i had to reread those chapters a few times, totally agree that this is one badass fight. the artistry of these chapter and all the others is the reason why i keep coming back to this manga. to answer the original question, i believe that is when griffith realized that the “spirit” or “heart” of the vessel a.k.a. gutts kid was stronger then he had expected(as if any child of gutts and caska would be a push over) it was already too late, it was even strong enough to move the incarnation of femto to save his mother. as griffith is flying away with zodd he still is thinkin bout what just happened. even during the fight with zodd, he is surprised of the feeling he was getting from the vessel. so i know that griffith had to get rid of that persuasive part of him and extract what little is left of the vessel from him. it turn making the mysterious child on the beach. now i have to ask a question, since this gutts kid was apart of griffith/femto does that means the child has extraordinary powers as well, or since he or she, i cant remember if the kid was a boy or girl, was part of the second eclipse mean that it is equal to griffith, since it when through the process as well? i guess we will see in a year or two what significance the child will make in the story. personally i cant wait
on a topic totally different, i dont know how kentaro draws the way he does, just reading over chapter 180 again , you just feel the pain, anger and frustration that is coming from gutts. like you can truly empathize with him. i know it is frustrating to me to wait months for a chapter to come out, but when he delivers the way he does, how could anyone complain. the man is an artistic genius

Casca neds to get her memory back cuz i don’t think gutts is gonna get laid by anyone else apart from her. He just doen’t fancy the others and he bloody like loves her, its the only think protecting him from becoming the raging dog inside him.

I don’t think there’s any hint to that child being caska’s/gatt’s baby. Though in the same chapter just before they were attacked by the alligators, they were talking about the “Fairy King” and how he was supposed to be super powerful and stuff… I got a feeling that he might have been a projection of the fairy king.

then why would caska defend that kid so much then? she doesn’t care for much of anything, but for some reason she gets all protective. now with the super powerful fairy king i thought they were talking about helping caska gets her memories back. also before the second eclipse the fetus help caska from getting rape by putting up a barrier. now what if the the kid is the extracted fetus from griffith. how strong do you think he is
dunno, i think the kid has some unknown power and i think it is the purified son of gutts and caska, either way the gutts neeeds a good shag from caska and soon before he turns into the freaking skullknight and soon, So she better get her memory back and fast before he loses his drive for the fight!

seriously,t here’s no reason to be mistaking this any longer . “is it Griffith’s?” This shouldn’t be asked any more. Its in fine print both in the Dark Horse translation and the offifical meaning of the phrase which is addressed in volume 14, not to mention Cacsca’s “pregnant” pains before the eclipse,
“so, its -your- Child”.”

-The Demon Infant accepts the “evil” in his heart, which was of course the tainted form put onto him by Casca having been raped by Griffith.
-For the love of God, are people STILL not aware that Griffith=Femto? There’s no change, he’s not a different person. It’s entirely Griffith. Femto doesn’t have a child, Femto does not inhabit his own child, he doesn’t have Griffith as a kid…nothing like that.
Guts and Casca’s child, tainted by Femto, is used as his shell for his transcendence from the God Hand realm/interstice into “midland”. Aka “God on Earth” syndrome. That’s all there is to it guys.
