Digitally Remastered DVD Collection
Well, I picked up the Berserk digitally remastered tv collection today and I'm glad I did. I picked this up at my local BestBuy, and at $30 that sure as hell beats what I paid for the series in the first place. I was totally impressed by the packaging and picture quality, but when it comes to Berserk I'll take whatever I can get.
What are your thoughts on picking this up? Worth it? Not worth it?

I have to agree, the quality on these screens is really good - especially compared to the original DVD release.

Yeah, it's definitely worth it. I haven't gotten around to watching it, but I will eventually. The best part of the new DVDs are the artwork on each disc.
I LOVE my copy! The box cover design is so bad ass! I just finished watching the rest of the set a few days ago. The quality is definitely an improvement over the "old" episodes I first watched!
And as a side note: I never realized how...oddly soothing Guts's voice is (Japanese). It's manly. <3

I got mine 3 days ago, the packaging and picture quality are great.
Just have a small problem, when the scene changes, small white bars appear at the bottom and top of the screen, but just for a split second. I'm using cccp to view it. Has anyone else had the same problems?
Yeah, if you're referring to what I think you are... those were around in the first set. Still, overall the quality is so much better. I'm very happy with mine.
I was lucky enough to find it for 50% off at Best Buy. I too was impressed with the quality of the set. The artwork on the disks was a nice touch.
Saw this post and lo and behold, when I went to my local best buy, the had 1 copy just begging me to buy it and give it a new home. So I did, and have yet to watch it, but the package is almost worth it by itself. I mean, the cds are beautiful!! and on top of the cd art is some sort of plastic lamination stuff. It feels cool, lol. Anyhoo, thanks for the shout out of this awesome deal, cuz i probably never would have gone looking for it!!
even though I already have the box set... i think i could use another, that is, if my local best buy has one (which i doubt).
thanks SOOO much for the heads up! i've just been out to bestbuy and snagged the last one they had at that store. what a great deal! berserk has been difficult to find, so i never finished purchasing the whole set. to find the whole set for $30 and digitally remastered at that? priceless. it really made my day!

Finally. Because most of the original dvd's were certain parts that were defected. best buy huh? haha yay!!! I'm going to buy it now!!!!!!!!!
don't trust that back order nonsense. of course the first thing i did was check online, too. but lo and behold i decided to just pop up at the store and they were able to produce a copy for me.

Damnit... "beats what i paid for it originally" dosent cover it at all.. i think i paid $30.00 a pop for each DVD originally... and there's what, 6 DVD's in the original set... grrrrrr.... >..<
YES this is worth it.... I'm filled with rage now.. but i must have watched the original DVD's like 20 times... so i probably got my monies worth out of it... plus all the blood red DVD cases..

Got it, it's definitely worth it even if you have the Box of War already like me. Big time noticable difference in quality.
Berserk 302 is out. Next one will be May 8th apparently.
I am going to buy this set tomorrow! I love Berserk! My favorite character is the Skull Knight i get so happy when he is in the manga.
Yea so I just came from looking up Berserk on Wikipedia and they said they actually have episodes covering "The Black Swordsman" story arc as well. Am I getting my hopes up by thinking that maybe this newer version of Berserk would they. I would brand my girlfriend in the invocation of doom for those episodes if they existed. PLEASE somebody let me know...
I got this new set yesterday. I instantly noticed that often when the scenes change, there is a stutter effect, almost like low frame rates. It may be my old dvd player, cause it played a lot better on my PC, still happens but much less noticable. Anyone else have any issues?

the 1st ep deals with the serpent apostle who ate children, I don't really remember, and the last one just shows gatsu leaving godo's place with the dragonslayer, minus an eye

Just picked this up today finally at Best Buy because Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete was sold out in the first 10 minutes of them opening. I like my new copy. It's awesome that they have ALL of the deleted scenes/outtakes now!
Is there really new episodes of Berserk coverring the blackswordsman arc ??? does any body know ???
j dutch had that same question. it was answered by dickery just 3 posts above your own. i don't think there is much chance of any more of the story ever being animated. i mean, at this point they could simply pull an fma: brotherhood and reanimate the whole series in a way that follows the storyline more accurately. i don't see how it couldn't top the original: better animation quality/style, more of the original story covered... win/win as far as i see it. i just don't think that's what miura intends. sad really.
My main concern with the packaging is that the discs overlap like they do. It makes me worry that they'll scratch against each other.
