Berserk 306 – Evil_Genius

Berserk Chapter 306 Preview

Almost nothing but two page spreads this chapter and very nice. I'm really looking forward to exploring the new world... but, September 25, are you serious? Thanks again Evil_Genius.

There isn't really any story to discuss in this chapter, but what did you think?

91 Days. Ugh. All these breaks are going to make it takes years once Dark Horse catches up to get a new volume to come out.

  • He's releasing at least a volume a year I think? Well, I wish I could just pick up YoungAnimal at the corner store so I could get those nice huge prints of the pages instead of the shitty little tankoban. Does Dark Horse ever do those big print versions? I think I saw some from Viz.

    • Bob says:

On average miura has been updating with about 2 new volumes a year. He has been consistent at 2 per year through volume 29. Lately things have dropped off slightly somewhere around 1 to 2 each year. I think summer breaks are fairly common for him. I guess he just likes to put us all on suspense! He is a great artist and knows how to tell an increadible story, we all gotta give him that!

  • blurpox says:

MY GOD HE DID IT AGAIN!!!! AND NOW WE GOTTA WAIT UNTIL SEPT FOR POSIBLY MORE ARTWORK, THIS DUDE GOTTA START MOVING THE STORY FORWARD, I THINK THAT HE GOT MANY PAGES TO MAKE THE POINT THAT THE WORLD CHANGED!

    • Let's definitely NOT forget that this is also Griffith achieving his dream. We spent a lot of chapters with The Band of the Hawk building up to the Eclipse. It's not like he can be king without all the fanfare, especially when you involve apostles and God Hand. This is the climax of this Act!!!

Afterwards when we read the story as a whole you won't think twice about it. It just seems to drag on because we're getting it a slice at a time. Anyways, this is exactly Miura moving the story forward in a big way.

      • engineerinjapan says:

        I couldn't agree more.
People should think on this before complaining about the supposedly "slow" output from Miura.

The story's great. I'm one of those who actually likes the arcs after the Golden Age as much, if not more, than the Golden Age arc itself. If it were just blood, sex and violence all the way through it would get extremely boring.

      • blurpox says:

Guys i agree with you, but still this is not ordinary manga that gets released monthly, this dude later on stop to play videogames and forget about the work, then comes back, then stops, at this rate we are gonna be 50 when he decide to finish it, i understand what patrick saids, but still is making things to slow, if he would it release it more often would be more bearable

  • THE_ MEN says:

    THIS GUY SUCKS!!! :C

  • IcedForce says:

This sucks. I love Berserk but why Miura have to be so lazy bum! This is going to be worse than Naruto and Bleach anime togehter and the only why is the breaks. Does Miura and his team draw with their toes or is it just so hard they cannot make it even every second week?!?

    • Hehe, wow... seriously? You are seriously going to make that comparison? Their art is not in the same league as Berserk, they're not in the same damn universe.

Compare the latest chapter of all 3 and report back... who's drawing with their toes?

    • Xarcand says:

Miura Himself Writes and draws his overly detailed pictures. Beautiful. omfg I Want GUTS ALREADY. I LOVE THIS SERIES MORE THEN ANY OTHER I HAVE READ BEFORE THIS... BUT THIS IS REALLY REALLY REAAAALLY, UNNECCESSARY 1 or 2 Chapters to get the point out is fine but WHY!? and now his puts 91 DAYS as a break. i have sat here coping with this for months on end telling myself. Dont worry guts will be there. and i know HE WILL. BUT IM SO SICK OF SEEING THIS AFTER ALL THE TIME I SPENT WAITING. PLEASE GET THE STORY MOVING MIURA!

  • Allagor says:

I'm done with this manga. :( Not happy to say it. I miss the old days of blood, violence, sex and gore.

    • Bob says:

the era of carnage, voilence and so forth is just around the corner, something is a miss, something is stirring. Fantastic creatures and mystery has emerged, I believe the chapters and arcs to come will return to that darkness and evilness that many of us enjoy. When the god hand shows up we all know that only can mean darkness, blood, violence, sex, and gore. Never give up, miura is getting ready to change up the story.

  • WizeMon says:

With all of the complaining you guys are doing you're missing some really awesome pages. Page 10 of this chapter (I just view online so page 10 of that) was one of the more interesting drawings I've seen in awhile. Miura does surreal better than anybody.

    • KarmaKurse says:

Page 10 is from the painting Garden of Earthly Delights, by Heironymus Bosch. Pretty freaking cool that Miura would refer to it.

      • Shemraq says:

I reckon Miura's gotta be pretty heavily inspired by Heironymus Bosch. Was great to see a reference. There's a bit of Goya in there as well, methinks...

      • Shemraq says:

oops... a bit of Goya as inspiration, not reference :)

  • engineerinjapan says:

Alternately the complainers should give Berserk a break for a while. Pick it back up after 3 years or so, by which time there will be enough chapters to not notice the supposed lack of storytelling in the current batch (of chapters).

I'm betting that the current batch of chapters would probably seem no less important than all the others - in terms of "moving the story forward" - when all is done.

    • Bob says:

Yes when this comes to english print this is going to look awsume. Iconic work in my opinion, pictures are worth a thousand words, great work miura! This is when berserk is at its best, we are coming to a climatic shift. It seems many like to complain, take a year off or two, then come back see whats happened, in my opinion enjoying this is best served by buying the english print version by dark horse! True fans should be excited, we havent seen the god hand in some time. Great authors do this, put us on edge, some complain, some love it, and in the end many will praise it and enjoy it. You go miura, incredible work.

    • Blktalent says:

i like the way the manga has gone EXCEPT the fact i have to wait 91 days for it and look at this guy saying 3 years, if i die before finishing berserk am totally going to hunt you and the artist for this, heck even the artist can die in that time (please god protect him ^_^) and the others and you only get complaints when people care about something and its totally gone the way they don't like it too.

      • engineerinjapan says:

Tell you what. Write Miura a letter. Tell him to hurry up because YOU want to finish reading the whole story as soon as possible just in case you (or Miura) get run over by a truck before your 20th (or is it 10th?) birthday. Tell him that you don't give a shit about whatever else he has (or wants) to do, because you are the most important person in the world and your demands trump all else. Also tell him that he'd better write it the way you want it to be, or else !!!. Better yet, why don't you just finish writing the story for him?

        Don't be a petulant moron.

      • Blktalent says:

        1. my imagination runs wild so in my head i have already completed the berserk manga, this happens when i watch anime too or even movies. my imagination takes on a story of its own so yeah i have already completed the berserk manga because my imagination can do that unlike your own.

        2. in my comment i made earlier i also said god protect the artist so i do care about others so your comment about my comment being me me me therefore becomes void.

        3. oh and you don't have to like my comments or opinons just like i don't like the 91 day wait period for the next chapter, you didn't like the my opinon or comment on this and made your on comment and opinon about it, but just like i have to still wait 91 days you still have to accept the fact that my opinon and comment about me not liking that waiting period still stands and therefore, i can say the same thing to you.

don't be a petulant moron engineerinjapan.

      • engineerinjapan says:

        1. Good on you, mate! Put your money where your mouth is, then.
        2. Read your own comment(s) properly. Then read mine.
        3. Of course I dont't have to like your comments and vice versa. Of course I have to accept the fact that your opinion still stands, and vice versa. Just like everyone else in this forum. So what's your point?

      • blktalent says:

My point is that you are also a petulant moron

      • engineerinjapan says:

Well, I wasn't the one whining at the start...

But ok, if you insist. Have it your way.

      • BerserkBerserk says:

Engineerinujapan why don't you shut up! You think you know, but you don't! Obviously this is a big deal when tons of people are crying, bleeding, sweating, and screaming for better chapters that actually show depth and come out at a nice pace so that we don't lose our minds. oh yeah that's right we already did lose our fucking minds! If miura wants to be responsible and act professionally he should start quickening the pace, make haste, and end this shit as soon as possible! He is losing fans this way.

      • engineerinjapan says:

        Grow up.

    • Rohan says:

I agree with you, engineer. Screw the other comments that have been replied.

  • insiduous says:

Looks like Gut's Dragonslayer will be effectively named now :)

  • CyberNinja says:

    Great Chapter!!!!

  • kchri says:

Can I just be the first to finally burst and say that I'm sick of all the complainers/whiners who just type in capitals and bitch about what they think Berserk should be to them (not pointing the finger at anyone in particular). I know that this thread is for voicing your opinions, but damn, it's annoying. There. That's my opinion. You know what else about my opinion? I thought this chapter was great, just like all of the others. Good work, Miura!

    • engineerinjapan says:

I wanted to do that to, but decided to be a little less direct.

I have absolutely no complaints about the way it (the Manga) has been and the way it's headed.

I just hope that nothing happens to Miura before the Manga is concluded (think Robert Jordan and the Wheel of Time).

On another note, it's great to see god's hand again... And another (real) elf, too!

      • Patrick says:

Oh man, don't remind me of Wheel of Time. That's too damn scary for Berserk.

      • Xarcand says:

=.= thats a very scary thought, i do hope it will begin to conclude soon enough, i do not want to find out what it feels like to have a unfinished masterpiece

  • DroefNai says:

Wow, these drawings are so beautiful, the quality is extraordinary! This chapter was worth waiting every second!
Next chapter will be my birthday present: I'd just got to be good =D

  • Kunedo says:

    You suck balls

  • Kunedo says:

    "THE_MEN" sucks balls... not Miura.

  • nikola_serbia says:

    People,this manga is changing everything!

  • Melissa says:

I love Miura's art, and his story telling is amazing.

When I picked up Berserk, it knocked all my favorite mangas down to 11th place and horded position 1-10 just for greatness.

I really love this manga and I'll probably read it to the end ... that is if I'm still alive and Miura doesn't kick the bucket before he can reach 100 volumes :(

  • Stephen says:

Re: length of time to get the story moving--

you know, I don't mind the number of chapters on this section either, and I love the art too (I agree, no one does surreal like Miura), but I also know that when fights get going and it's all gore and blood shed for chapters and chapters, that it just bores me to tears, whereas some others like that. So, there you go-- some parts of the story 1 reader adores, and another finds terribly boring.

There have been times when I've almost stopped reading Berserk because it was all just blood and gore and rape for waaaaaaaaaaaaaayy to long for my tastes, but here Miura is again, delivering what I love.

So to those who are complaining, just remember-- soon enough, Berserk will be hackin' and slashin' and rapin' it's way to success again, and then I'll be the one aching for a change in the story line.

Right now though, this stuff is great. The art is stupendous. "Iconic" someone said-- and I agree.

    • Xarcand says:

Yea, i recently began to start rereading the books i currently own, and you have to admit. Berserk gets darker then dark, and i thought about how much rape there was, it was a bit much.

I just love how the story went from really light and everything is fine, then it just crams it all in your face at once then pulls you deeper into the dark, giving you that really hopeless lonely feeling for guts.

it was an extremely big turn in the way the story was, and it actually made you feel something for the characters, and anger towards the one we all know. this Manga was the first piece of art and writing that i had come across to make me tear up like i did during the eclipse and i still and always will want nothing more then to see guts have his showdown against griffith.

and now Miura has taken another big turn in the way of his story telling, my last comment above embarasses me now, I was so excited to see guts in the last chapter and was ready to see him arrive at Pucks home to finally cure Caska, that i really did not even care to see what was happening,I am Excited and cannot wait and see how this major turn will effect the story.

Keep up the Awesome Work Miura!

  • The Manbeast says:

The most detailed piece of art in 17 pages I've ever seen. Did anyone catch "Fantasia?" It's almost as if there is a new volume in the middle of the chapter.

Where to go from here? There is no limit. predictions: Guts and gang get to Elfhelm. Caska gets healed, but is still not the same. Habukufuku heals guts, gives greater insight on his behelit, regrows his arm(or offers to.). Griffith/Femto Rules the new dark ages. What do you think?

  • demon in the flesh says:

well i could understand some waiting and stuff but im not worried about it now because just think that if the whole world change so did some of the people in it think of the possiblities muria just created guts may have just got a gigantic power boost in strength and now people can see griffith for being a douche bag either way i wanna see what things they can do now this is going to be amazing

    • The Manbeast says:

I don't know. They general public may have been bamboozled like Obama did in the US. They may all just blindly follow that skunk face. They'll think he's the savior of the world. "hawk of light"

  • Rob says:

Was anyone thrown off when they saw the double spread of what I would call "twisted elves" I mean it was so out of left field, its like he just threw it in there. WTF. I like where its going but I'm not 100% sure till I know what happens in a few more chapters.

  • Jose M. says:

With this transfiguration of the world, do you guys think that the rest of the god hand were brought to this "material" plane of existence and therefore, Gutts can actually kill them now with the help of the elf king?

    • Rob says:

Well you see each of them in this chapter, so its very possible they are not able to manifest in this "world" or even possible that they now exist here much like Griffith. *shrugs*

  • Rohan says:

:\ Lovely chapter. Too bad September eh?

  • Rohan says:

PS. Miura for the absolute win. His artwork, his story, his atmosphere is just amazing. Few are at his level, and he shouldn't be the one to blame for delays. He's not lazy either lawl, for those of you who think so. Try drawing what he does.

  • mulatto says:

for all of you people who are complaining, you should be ashamed to call yourselfs berserk fans for all of us who have been with berserk for a long time we have always had to go through the slow releases and comparing berserk to naruto or bleach is like compairing breathing air to breathing broken glass they are incomparable naruto and bleach have sold out to the masses unlike berserk

    • blktalent says:

no way we shouldn't feel ashamed this is for some of us or first drought of berserk how did you feel when you where giving 91 days from your favourite manga for the first time.

      • mulatto says:

        just deal with it

      • Blktalent says:

you do know we don't have a just but to deal with it so you saying deal with it is therefore void because we already know that we can't change anything but we can still feel pissed off at the fact we have to deal with it

  • anoniguy says:

That splash page with Fantasia on it.. I had a sudden, irrational fear that Miura is about to spin off a new series and put Berserk on hiatus.

That would be a bummer - awesome, but also a bummer.

  • Tim the Sorcerer says:

I love the disclaimer at the bottom of page 2:

"This is a work of fiction. Any similarities to real-life people and events is [sic] purely coincidental."

Other than that, I wonder if there are going to be any more benign or good creatures like the fairy and those weird things with dusters to balance out the nasty trolls, dragons, zombies, hydras, and other things.

  • Arua says:

dang I'm just gonna take sum dudes advice that i read sumwhere in this list and just "take a break" from berserk.. gonna forget about it until one day, I'll hear my grandkids or sum1 mention the word berserk

  • aragorn189 says:

Rubbish! simply rubbish. you people just don't want to see the truth!!! i love berserk, really do! but let's face it: the author is either running out of ideas, or he can't be bothered anymore. so now he's like: "i'll just bombard them with a chapter full of artwork, so they'll leave me alone and i can chill for another 3 or 4 months".
After all he's been working on this comic for 20 years now (1989). he's probably fed up with it.
move on to smthg else like "ubel blatt" or "vinland saga". "claymore" is still running regurlarly i think

    • Anyoneamongus says:

Wow that's pretty much how I feel. It seems like everything after slicing open old "shiva" (can't remember his name, but you all know who I'm talkin about) is just filler. Yes blah blah art work is good blah blah, but the story has told us nothing of any relevance since. What have we learned? That the old man wanted the light and now became the light. Okay. Oh! And that Grifith changed the world...sorta. I say sorta cause it's not like the world has literally changed like the apostles, just either moved into a new spiritual realm or dragged things from the human's imagination into their realm so that one's a bit in the air between the two. We know that the world is different now is my point. Now after that, he's been spending time showing us pretty pictures of how this is effecting people when I got the message three chapters ago. I get it, demons walk the earth. He could have shown this chapter in place of last one and nothing would be different. Now I know what some of you are thinking "Well you just like the blood and gore and yadda yadda yadda." No actually I just enjoy good story progression. This story is very very good with very good art work, but I'd take the stab in the art department a little. Certainly not down to One Piece level, much as I love that series, but I don't need fifty well detailed people in every box of action or a hundred people I can literally identify from chapters back on a two page shot in nearly every chapter if it means waiting three months for five releases then another three month break. Sorry, I guess I'm not a hardcore Berserk fan, but that math just don't add up.

And frankly to read "Oh but his work is so wonderful and the art is so great and above blah blah" is just bull crap. I do not mean to insult, I really don't. I don't think anyone here or reading the story would dare deny that his work is the best. It just is. And the story too is very original and brilliant. However, the pacing stinks.

Now I know Naruto and Bleach have been brought into this before so I'm going to try to briefly state how I feel about comparing these really quick. If Bleach came out once a month like Soul Eater and Full Metal alchemist, but had no more pages than Naruto or Bleach I wouldn't complain at all. And I think he could do it. He's talented a hell and frankly it'd give him more time than the two week break he put between the 14 page chapters and everyone apparently agrees that was good. Wouldn't anyone else agree with that?

      • blktalent says:

wait a minute 1989? i was born in 1989 how old is the artist now? and its been running for that long and people are complaining to the complainers not to complain about it taking to long. its been 19-20 years the people that complain that its taking to long, have more of a right to complain i feel.

  • WhoCares? says:

All you people that complain about how slow berserk's releases are make me sick. All you just want is to chit chat with other losers like yourself about Miura's ideas like they were your own, and brag with your moron friends about how awesome and different you are (like those ideas actually came from YOUR head). WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO COMPLAIN? IF MIURA FUCKING WANTS TO KEEP A SLOW PACE, SO BE IT, SINCE IT'S HIS FUCKING IDEA, IT'S HIS FUCKING PROBLEM!

  • uncle_T says:

    hahaha lol to Arua,,
stay strong Arua, don't give up!
While abstinence is good, but abstinence from Berserk is like abstinence from breathing air, not good, it'll make your mind go crazy =9 lol

It's been a while since I last saw you in here btw, where've you been?

    • Whitehawk says:

      HAHAHAHAH

I think it is hilarious anyone entertains these morons who complain about the time it takes to make or storyline of BERSRK.

First, try and produce a better Manga to read. Present a solution, not just a problem. Especially if you wish to prove your claim is valid.

Second, Berserk is drawn in such detail that you cant really compare it to the time it takes to draw some kind of Naruto shit or something. Every page of Berserk could almost qualify for a complete piece of art. The visuals in Berserk are just as important, if not more so than the story. Sometimes they tell the story better than the words can.

Lastly, Miura has said Berserk is nowhere near over. Some of his influences has written epics that are way bigger than Berserk is atm. Get used to it. Relax, find a hobby, a job, something...it will come. And it will be glorious.

      • engineerinjapan says:

Its fun, even downright hilarious sometimes, entertaining those morons who complain.

      • Blktalent says:

whats so stupid about complaining about things you don't like. if people didn't complain the world would be worse of that what it is now.

you might take what ever shit gets shoveled infront of you and say "thank you sir can i have another" or you could say i don't like where this is going. no one gets hurt but your just putting your view forward not just bowing your head and accepting everything even if you don't like it

  • Kotoro says:

I am starting to get sick of the picture book mode. And "Also Grif's dream becomes reality". Who ends a manga with and "Also". They are really dragging this piece of art through the mud.

    • DrPepperPro says:

Those lines that you're talking about on the last page, as well as the giant text that's usually on the chapter title page, are never in the volume releases, and probably aren't even written by Miura.

  • vitorvedder says:

    *joining the flame war*
i'm giving up berserk for now...
the drawings are beautiful... the story amazing...
but i don't want to re-read the last chapter everytime there is a new release, to remember what has happened...
    it is breaking the pace...
maybe in one year or two there will be enough content worth reading all at once...

  • hollowtek says:

I must agree that Miura is really dragging the story in the mud. I mean, I've thought about how many years I've read his epic and it really never occurred to me until these past few years. I fear the worst for the storyline. It really does seem a lot more shonen-like than ever. To this point, I, a loyal berserk fan, am retiring my status until Miura comes to his senses. So to quote a famous Seinfield episode, "it's not you, it's me".

  • abel.bolanos says:

    Ausgezeichnet !!!
    Es ist sehr gut !!

  • BerserkBerserk says:

    FUUUUUCKKKKK!
I'm not gonna give up on this shit. I'm gonna kepe reading.

  • nicowittocx says:

Honestly speaking I'm not a great manga reader to start with compared to how much a anime watcher I am.
Nevertheless I appriciate a good work of art when I see one.
I started reading berserk last year in December when I re-watched the anime (for the fifth time or so)
I got to the last after a month or so (somewhere near the end of Januari)
and I have to say it's the only manga who actually caught me so well to make me read it to the end/
While it was fun to read an allready large set of chapters from the get go, I ahve to say I was dissapointed that it still wasn't finished. So after looking it up a bit I found out this series has been runnnig for a good twenty years now.
I won't be so pretentious to call myself one me the better fans of the series, but for someone like me who generally likes anime and manga, twenty years is a very long time...
With all respect for Miura and the way he's presenting his story with so much detail and intriguing plottwists, all in all I'm still an all around average person. He's just making it hard for anyone to just pick up and read this, because you'll pretty much be obligated to sacrifice a portion of your life just to read this comic to the very end (if he ever gets there). I'm sure he's got it all worked out in his head, and I can only imagine the work he puts in every page, and I for one don't really care how long he takes to finish it (as long as it's still in my lifetime :-) )
But I think the big issue here when I read all the comments is the fact that there are average readers as myself who don't have the time or patience just to read a comic up until the end, however great (and it is) it may be. Then there are the real devoted readers who really live for this, and probably are waiting full impatience for each release, but have the understanding and sympathy for the Miura and the way he's handling things.

Therefor the only conclusion I can make out of all this is that Miura is missing out and a lot of people who simply want to have a quick read, but at the same time has a big enough fanbase to not care about that.
So all my respects for the people who do have the time and patience for this comic and more respect for the author himself for creating such a great work as Berserk, and to all the others, either get over it and wait until every chapter comes out or look for something less complicated and with a more steady release.

    • Blktalent says:

wait a minute no one here is giving up what comments have you been reading, there are just pissed because they HAVE to wait and don't actually have a say so the vent in their comments about berserk and the ones that don't complain are not impatiant they might feel sympathy for miura or thou i don't know why there should be sympathy its not as if his dying or something. a healthy 43 or 44 year old man miura is anyway being impatiant won't make you not complain and its not just average readers that are complaining.

      • nicowittocx says:

I wasn't only talking about the comments, I was speaking in general.
I know lots of people ain't giving up for the simple reason that this manga is too good to give up
what I was saying is that Miura will surely lose people who aren't as devoted fans like most people here by waiting this long, although I'm pretty sure he isn't just sitting on his ass doing nothing, but just taking his time to finish his work, after all it's summer for everyone :p
And just to make everything clear, I'm not really here to start a discussion or whatsoever, I just gave my opinion, which isn't necessarely (probably wrote that wrong, but didn't feel like looking it up:)) THE right conclusion and therefor I ain't saying neither that anyone elses in here is wrong. It's just an opinion between the many opinion's in here

  • pgod says:

Well... all I can really say is if muira dies or something happens to him, people who think its ok for these long breaks are going to be eating their words hardcore...I'm not saying he should sacrafice quality for quantity, but I would like eventually get to the end of the story in a one lifetime.

    • Jose M. says:

I admit that is my only fear with these breaks, I dont want another inconclusive end on my hands like Robert Jordans "A Wheel of Time"... reading 10,000 pages more or less for the dude dying before he wrote the final volume! O.O

  • vitorvedder says:

    man...
i was about to choose another manga to read and thought:
    "why not hajime no ippo?"

    bad bad choice...

20 years on the road as well... -_-

  • Allagor says:

The problem is like that. If you are a good autor, or in this case mangaka, then you must keep the majority of the fans happy. If you fail to do this, then what is the point of being one in the first place? If you look at all the posts here and the posts on the previous chapters you'll find a lot of fans giving up Berserk. And that is nod good. When I read the last chapter I said ok this is it. Thats the end for me. No more Berserk. And this is the 100th time I said this. I'll continue reading it, but I'm nto happy, I don't like the story, and I don't like the last chapter. This is bulshit? And here I ask the Question do you remember what was your feelings when you saw the birth of Guts? Do you remember the eclips? And where is this feeling in the last chapters? Yes, I'm not a happy fan. :(

    • Bob says:

everyone complains yet miura has been very consistent he puts out around 20 or so chapters a year, on average he is around 1 to 2 books a year. Thats roughly 4 to 5 months working on artwork and putting the material together, perhaps during his breaks he thinks about where he wants to go and what to focus on next or how to work the chapters to come. Patience is a virtue, there is also no sense in putting together rushed material that lacks intrique and rushed artwork and design. Berserk is not our life nor is it his, we all have lives, check back in a few years. Its really sad when people complain about great work. Also when you've been working on a manga for 20 years, he likely needed some longer air time and vacation from this work. So perhaps things have been a bit on the slower side more like a book a year, but I'm sure we will se that pick up of pace to maybe 2 to 3 volumes a year.

  • _Voke_ says:

Im a great fan of berserk but miura is very slow with the chapters,Each chapter is a masterpiece its true...but 20 years have passed since the release of the first chapter...miura is a genious but I think miura doesnt know he is mortal...

    • Bob says:

You guys need to relax, miura is around 40 years of age. If he just thinks about berserk, that could kill him, we all need to live life from time to time, take it easy on the man, he puts together enough work for 1 to 2 volumes a year and he is consistent about that.

      • Rohan says:

        Lol at Bob's comment.
        Nice.
I wonder if Berserk is about Miura's younger antics ahaha.

  • Giorno_Giovana says:

Too many comments for me to read through all of them!

Anyway, I sort of like where Miura is taking Berserk, and I sort of don't understand it. Apostles are apparently different from childrens' story book monsters, such as dragons, and unicorns etc etc. The aforementioned monsters were indeed fantasy, and now they're reality?

So what made Gohda forge the dragonslayer? Ffff

Beyond that little tangent of mine... I honestly liked Berserk a lot more when it was Guts vs. Armies of men, and basically there was ONE monster you knew about; Zodd. Then again, I knew all along there'd be apostles muckin' about, thanks to chapter 1. Anyway, Guts' escapades with good 'ol band of the hawk was a lot more entertaining.

These kids, witch loli and thief shota, are ridiculously annoying. You don't get old Guts, where he runs in and hacks'em and slashes'em any more, because he has to watch over crazy church woman, retard Casca, shota+loli, and Serpico. I figure it's supposed to be his character development, he's no longer giving into berserking, he's now trying to protect more than just his own life, etc etc.

But how the heck'll he kill Griffith at this rate? Is Miura setting us up for a glorious come back of the Berserker Guts? Guts and Co. get to elfland, all get healed up, prepare to fight Griffith! Griffith devastates Guts' entire party, dead Casca, dead everyone but Guts because he has plot armor. Newly Berserked Guts takes a chunk out of Griffith, and ends the series! or something I don't know. I do suspect most of Guts' new "party" getting killed though, at least I would if Miura had shown any of his old habits.

  • Tim the Sorcerer says:

Maybe some of these complainers should gain some perspective on the whole thing by going back and rereading the entire series up to this point.

    • Bob says:

Amen, those who are complaining probably have forgotten where this story was going all along. Miura forshadowed these events very well.

Also people seem to complain about guts being not as "tough". Well if you read the manga you would know why he has changed. There is a darkness within him "The Beast" and he is trying to tame it.

Also its can boring to read volumes of work and not see characters change, its important that guts has changed a bit and that other characters change its all about great story telling.

  • Berserker says:

i thought the new world was going to be more colonial era type stuff but this is cool too. i don't think i've ever seen a european style dragon look that raw

  • Zodd says:

Wow is it me or have like like last 4 berserk chapters been like complete shit? im sorry to say it i love berserk but comE on ... dragons trolls fairies and shit nothing but drawings with no plot outline or significant character dialogue and they took like two months to produce?.... really?

    • Anyoneamongus says:

No, it's not just you. Nothing but random demons attacking in the light for once, foreshadowing and people staring into the sky for what could be estimated as five straight minutes has occurred in the past four chapters. That's been the same thing that has been annoying me as well, pretty pictures of randomness.

      • Bob says:

this is what story telling is all about, foreshadowing, and random demons are nothing new in the berserk realm. You can go back to earlier volumes when a random serpent came out of no where in the darkness of the forests. Things may seem random, but they really are not, if you read the tale closely this is where we were going. One could argue if you don't like it dark and with fantasy why are you reading this tale.

      • Bob says:

About the people staring into the sky in awe it happened back at the eclipse, its nothing new, its just gotten to be a bigger element of the story.

    • KuneDo says:

You obviously don't care for the story or what Miura is trying to accomplish. I bet you're hoping that the next chapter will be the last so you won't have to waste your already pathetic little lives bitching about what you think about the chapters. If you don't like it.. then how about you crawl back into your hole in the ground from where you came, and you come up with one of the greatest stories ever.... because it seems like you know whats "good" and not Miura and thats why he's spent only half his life writing and drawing a masterpiece. Its take a big man to put down somebody else's work. Personally, I think your comments have been complete shit. I mean really? Grow a dick.

You don't deserve to read Berserk.

      Miura is God.

      • Bob says:

Absolutey agree with you mate, berserk is great stuff, lots of complainers out there but it does not take a genious to see that this was the direction that miura was heading. The story is heading toward a magnificent climax and people are complaining? The eclipse was awsume and that took like a whole volume of chapters to get through, thats 10 chapters of the band of the hawk lossing all hope and being devoured. With what is going on now a bunch of words would be pointless, the balls are rolling and people are not talking that much and when there is talk its iconic like with grifith speaking to the confused emperor who went to the depths to become some magnificent godly beast. Once this gets to print, I'll buy it and really enjoy it. The series has continued to excell and improved.

  • Zodd says:

    1. If Ur calling muria god you don't deserve to read berserk period as he is constantly making fun of the existence of god.
    2. I like the drawing and foreshadowing but there need to be dialogue and plot outline that is the basis of any literature cuz i wouldn't read berserk if it was just some ass swinging a sword with no plot. So how can u call 4 chapters of nothing but drawing a story plz u NEED to crawl in that hole u were talking about and die. Try receiving the plot outline and the feeling of the author before mouthing off dumbshit.
P.S. I do have a dick and it in your mouth.

    • KuneDo says:

      I'm terribly sorry.
Does such an intelligent and literate being such as yourself require everything to be spelt out word for word?
You can't possibly think for yourself and you require somebody to spell it out in plain english for you to understand?
Also...that out of 306 chapters all it takes is 4 little "nothing" chapters for you to become confused and distressed and for you to start whining online just to cover your confusion, neanderthalism and inability to appreciate art?

Ever heard the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words"?
Lets take a step back here.. we'll do some simple math and I'll go through it with you step by step, with full english dialogue included just so you don't get lost along the way. Feel free to stop me at any time and ask any questions if you get confused.

Okay..."a picture is worth a thousand words".

      We have 4 chapters. 1, 2, 3, 4.
      4 chapters.
Each chapter holds about 15 pages.
So thats 15 pictures we have per chapter. 15 pictures.
4 chapters multiplied by 15 pictures.
      4x15.
You remember your times tables don't you?
      4x15=?

Do you know the answer Zodd?
60! Thats correct! Well done. Go to the front of the classroom Zodd.
Okay. So we have about 60 pictures. (Its actually 61 in total from the 4 chapters but we'll round it off to make it easier for you).

So if a single picture is worth a thousand words, then how many words are 60 pictures worth?
      (60 pictures)x(1000 words per picture)=?
      60x1000=60000.
So we have about 60000 words there in those "4 chapters of nothing".

      Go figure.

    • blktalent says:

a picture is worth a thousand words is an old saying and they is also a saying stating that 1001 words is worth more than a picture.

so kunedo if you calculate all the berserk pages that have images and words together you will find we have just been sold short.

  • Zodd says:

Sure the pics are nice but if i wanted to read a story without meaning i would pick up a childerns book or naruto. all im saying is that muria seems to be throwing in a filler of pictures

    • BerserkBerserk says:

Zodd is right. I agree. I say, that Miura is pulling a dick move. He is just stalling for something and these pictures are useless. Well, they serve some purpose, but they are obsolete seeing as how there is a much much much better way to go about explaining a change in the world's rule's and Griffith's ascencion into greater power still. Miura, what the fuck? Fuck this shit.

  • insiduous says:

I think Miura doesn't know what direction he wants to take the plot. I feel that he understands how slow-going the installations are, and because of that thinks that if he can radically change the plot (and rules within the Berserk Universe) that he can somehow still please his readers (as with the ressurection of super-ganishka, his subsequent death and the birth of Fantasia). But, like many have stated earlier, Miura has been producing a lot of exposition (filler details) instead of furthering the plot with character development/dialogue. I think we (as readers) are pissed because the past many installations have been purely pictures, and that balance between exposition and action has been compromised for the moment.

  • berserkobsessed says:

Well, I can easily say that no matter what I will -always- love Berserk. It's become my favorite manga. It's so different and beautifull, so perfect.

Yes, Miura is taking his time. Yes, Miura draws on a cosmic scale and therefore it takes time. Yes, the manga's plot isn't moving very fast. Yes, the last few chapters have been spreads and art.

The bitching has to stop. HOLY CRAP IT HAS TO STOP. It's friggin annoying!

PEOPLE THIS IS WHAT THE MANGA HAS BEEN LEADING UP TO. EVERYTHING has been leading up to this turning point in the story! This is HUUUUUGE!! Of COURSE there are gonna be spreads and little dialogue! It's HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!

Yes a long ass three month wait until the next chapter is a little ridiculous, but it WILL be worth it in the long run!

Miura's probably just gathering up the plot, making sure there aren't many plot holes, and making sure everything makes sense.

  • Berserkerz says:

    OMFG!!!! guys !!

MIURA HAS DIED FROM A CAR ACCIDENT!!!
