I agree. WTF, Miura. Just get the gang to the fuckin’ island! I hate all of this busy work. If Miura is so lazy why is he just putting in random pieces of busy art work instead of just getting to the nitty gritty that every one is waiting for? Miura goes like a yo-yo from one extreme to the other. Lazy and then to strict devotion. Prolonged suffering must be his agenda.
When there’s a break it’s only in publication. Miura works on the story and other stuff during the breaks, and does the art during the 2 week period between breaks. He’s in no way lazy.
Some people are never happy. First everybody wants Guts fighting again and then when we’re gonna get that, they complain that they should just get to the island. Make your mind up, trolls.
Let’s enjoy the manga as it is please. Besides, Miura has been working on berserk like this since the beginning. I hate the pirates, I dun think it’s the best thing to see in BERSERK! but heck! the previous chapters were gorgeous and if you fail to see the beauty in how Griffith got his Castle then please read the whole manga again. I think Miura deserves to chill with a kickass entry for Guts once again =3 even if it doesn’t suit him XD

I gotta say– I thought this chapter sucked pretty bad as well. I don’t think it’s such a terrible thing to point out the obvious. Whatever. Hopefully something with some real dramatic grit will occur eventually.
This chapter was awesome and it came out earlier than most chapters normally do. This chapter had dialogue, violence and Guts. But best of all it didn’t have Griffith. This is so much better than the previous arc.
I also liked this chapter, to bad some people doesn´t have pacience to see this arc develop….
Throughout the whole Berserk there are parts where Miura lowers the tension, slows it down… and it was ok back when I was reading volume by volume, but when reading one chapter at a time, and you’re waiting for new chapter for weeks, you get somewhat disappointed if it’s not as brutal and badass as it could be…
try to have patience and wait for 3 or more chapters to get out, and read it like that…

This chapter is terrible. Just terrible. Guts is the only thing saving the chapter 200%! I always hated the pirates from before and now those assholes were brought back! Instead of showing Guts’ child or the skull knight or something useful that would have made the story go on a little farther, it fuckin’ stagnated to pirates at the high seas! We should be at the Elfheim! Griffith story arc proved how slow Miura is getting. It took fuckin like 5 chapters just to show griffith going from one point of attack to another. Seriously, one chapter, “Oh i wonder what the hawk will do”, next chapter, “Oh i think the hawk is gonna do something”, next chapter. “It was said in the old scriptures that the hawk would bring light”, next chapter, “Oh wow demons”, next chapter. “Ok griffith finally did something!” FUCK THAT!
If you ask me, if people complain like this then people can’t grasp the concept of a story in a picture art. Miura’s style has not changed from the glorious days when griffith and guts were united as friends. The Eclipse Took a whole volume and then some to unfold thats like 13 to 14 chapters or so just with the eclipse. This is a work of art people, if you just skip rocks from one thing to another then you have lost any point in the story. Plus where talking scanlations here done for us for free, normally us americans would need to wait for a whole volume, which is much more enjoying. If you complain about one chapter then wait for the whole volume to come out and read from that. I think its neat to see whats coming but with all this disreaspect going on, frankly I think I will be waiting for the Dark Horse release with the nice translations, there is nothing like reading from a book, it brings forth how much a masterpeice this work is. If your complaining then why still read, its a turn off for others, and its only going to bring less intrest in the manga. If you want it to continue show some support otherewise perhaps it will end in the middle somewhere. The tides are really turning things are getting interesting and people all they seem to want is more of the same, guts just slashing things and action. Well frankly that does not make a story tick, there is much more to story telling.

Bob, I think you may be over exaggerating things a bit. The things we say and do here have no consequence on the story line or Miura’s life at all. This is why I support people comming to the forums and venting a little bit after a hard day of life and it’s injustices. We all have to deal with this life so let the people who want to complain-complain. Miura isn’t going to stop just because some forum bloggers complained about his work, nor will he speed up or force his company to bring out Berserk faster and better just because we have issues with the timing. It makes no difference and we here have no control. So sit back and take it all in. One day, Berserk will end and it will have a glorius ending and we will all look back and say somehting like, “Damn, what a thrill”.

Why all the whining about this chapter?
When i started reading berserk, I read like 3 or 4 volumes a day and had the volumes that were out to that time finished within a week.
And i think it was the same with most of you people.
And srsly there were also chapters in which nothing happend … you should all be cool that you “are able” to read Berserk and that its still continuing.
But I also have to admite that Guts entrance was a little … over the top and that made it a little .. stupid.

Pyrates, that’s like saying, “Oh dont complain about your broken leg, you could have aids”. Like what the hell? You can’t just dismiss the problem at hand just because it could be worse. In fact the fact that things could be worse is even more reason to complain. What you just said about how people should not complain about berserk and be thankful that they even can read berserk is just like saying hey, stop complaining that you cant get out of bed because of your broken leg that won’t heal because there are others in the world who have aids and will surely die so be thankful.
There’s more than just pretty art in manga. The pace has been super slow and AloneAgain didn’t say anything regarding reading chapter-to-chapter or volume-to-volume. Frankly if Miura wants to take his sweet time creating all those pretty looking panels that you look at for 2 seconds and wonder why there’s no development for chapters, then he just spoils the whole chapter and the tension that has been building up or should be building up. What a cheesy chapter, Guts playing the role of Super Man? :/ I’m disappointed.
gatts is the super man and has always played it in the manga i don’t understand why this is any different. I vividly remember miura using the same intro for gatts when he saved caska and farnese from the trolls in qpithloth (or however you spell that) and looked very bad ass with a “sorry i’m late” cheesy line. but everyone loved it then. nothings really changed.
Reading Berserk Chapter by Chapter or Episode by Episode for SK.net anals is like watching your favorite movie 20 minutes at a time then stopping it and waiting 2 weeks to watch the next 20 minutes, wouldn’t that suck too?
I agree, it would suck. But I think that this situation is worse because imagine watching that movie, stoping it every 20 mins, and then having the fear that an authority figure would take the disc out at any moment and say, “You can’t watch any more until we decide we are ready”.
This brings me to my next point. This is why most of us complain here, because we want things to happen in the story that make sense and cause action and excitment and or progress the story; because there is always the fear that berserk will be on another holiday vacation at any moment again. There is always the fear that at any moment miura will take another break and we will be left for months and months and months with nothing but a silly chapter of a fuckin’ pirate and his crusty crew, and a few dead tentacles. Or even worse, when we ALL HAD TO WAIT 4-6 MONTHS AFTER ONLY SEEING ONE CHAPTER THAT HAD THE POPE LOOK AT THE SKY, GRIFFITH LOOKED TOWARDS THE CROWS, AND ZOOD SPOKE ABOUT THREE LINES……ANY OF YOU REMEMBER THAT SHIT? WHEN WE WERE LEFT WITH NOTHING BUT CHAPTERS FULL OF FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND SOLDIERS JUST LINING UP GETTING READY TO GET GET READY FOR A BATTLE THAT WOULDN’T START UNTIL MUCH MUCH LATER?????????? Yeah….That’s what I’m talking about.
Patience people. Patience. Though it was pretty slow paced the merging of the worlds was a huge plot development, and there’s plenty more on the horizon. Just ride it out.

I liked, it alltho it wasent much, he satesfied my needs for animated gore
I enjoyed it, especially the Guts entrance. I’m glad we’re getting back to the good stuff – I enjoyed the Griffith stuff as well but it went on a bit too long. Berserk is my favorite anime/manga ever by a long shot, and even though I desperately want to see the character/plot development when Guts meets Griffith again (sparking up all the old emotions from the old days and seeing what happens with Caska), I’ll just be patient and enjoy the ride.
It was great. But will the Miura keep once again a 3 months vacation? I mean it’s good he takes his time to make Berserk perfect, but speed like 2 chapters in a month and then 3 months without anything is fustrating. Miura could keep like half of the year vacation and then he could have like five to ten chapters ready and while they are published every second week or so, Miura could do more of them and there wouldn’t be this “wave like moving” and fustration for next chapter that comes after x period of time.
It’s true that Berserk is slowing down and what I fear is, there’s going to be few months without Berserk, again. But to speak truth, these breaks get me to think is Miura bored to do the Berserk or is this just planned he does it so slow? And with slow I mean when the chapters are published. It’s crazy to think of it, but I fear I’m saying same as many are thinking: In the chapters happen as much as in WSJ (Weekly Shounen Jump) series and they are published like Duke Nukem -games (and I fear there will be one day the promised chapter won’t come). To but it bluntly: In chapter there happens only few things; pirates attack, they kill people and Gutts comes to slaughter pirates; and the next chapter comes after months and again there happens only few thing; Gutts kills few pirates and starts to duel with captain pirate; and after this battle is over we start to think it wasn’t so bad for from four to ten chapters fight and then the truth strikes, it took like a year to get those chapters out.
I follow many mangas and the Berserk is my favorite of all. But the thing that kills the ultimate feeling of Berserk is that I have readed all of it like ten times during the breaks and the WSJ-style chapters (just nifty twenty pages in a chapter and it’s cut like something big happens in the next chapter since it can be a great fight but still it can be a long flashback about the pirates’s pasts). If you compare the Berserk to other irregulary coming mangas it’s the most fustrating one since others make the chapters longer (like forty pages) and make things happen in one chapter and still they try to get a chapter out even every second month but about Berserk you can’t be sure how long it is going to take this time (like now it says “Continues Next Time!” and as we know it might be couple of weeks or months or half of the year before “next time” and then there will be again 20 pages of Berserk and after it waiting for the next one for two weeks, two month or longer.
The fear that one day after all this grueling and painful waiting through boring chapters that only seem rich when put together…..the fear that after all of this…the chapters won’t come…. This is what I was trying to say before and even IcedForce has said it. He said it, a bunch of other people have posted above us in ways that agree that we are all pissed off, so don’t tell me I’m wrong. This waiting game is bullshit.

If you guys can’t handle Miura’s pacing, then quit reading for a few years and pick it back up later to marathon. I’ve been reading Berserk for years, and even for seemingly insignificant chapters like these, he puts just as much effort and detail into it all the same as the very important events. A great author doesn’t change his work to adjust to the desires of the fans; he keeps his vision and pacing in-tact. Cheap, Weekly gratification is a very different thing compared to a long-running, cohesive work of art. And that’s what Berserk is; art. It’s not a simple bit of weekly entertainment like most of what you’d find in WSJ; it’s a generation-spanning epic in the making. I personally love chapters like these, because it just fleshes out the universe further. I love exploring every little detail in every panel that Miura so craftfully places for those who are willing to take it in; to explore. As long as he stays true to his vision and keeps pace, Miura can take as long as he wants as far as I’m concerned – I can wait. You can’t rush perfection.

And there hasn’t been a significant slowing of the Berserk Manga, Miura has been very consistent with a pace of about a volume or two a month, so somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 20 chapters a whole year. He has kept this pace since the first volume. If you complain then perhaps check in in another year or two perhaps two to four more volumes have reach shelf sales.

OK, this is the final chapter of Berserk that I’ll ever read. I am getting too old for all this manga stuff (turning 22), and it will be YEARS before it ends. Miura will eventually die from old age and never finish it. The younger generation, at least the vast majority of it, will not go back to read an unfinished manga from the 80s. Just re-read Berserk again for the 11th time still awesome. with the fact that the falcon has literally got his own land now and Guts nearing the land of the elf’s i wouuld say the majority of the manga is completed and i have this feeling the ending would be like a massive lord of the rings battle (which was ‘EPIC’) between good creatures of the other world versus the bad demons. anyone else got an idea of how they think it would end

Please be 100% certain of this before typing it up. Are we talking berserk in anime form or the manga. I don’t know how muira could have funding issues when the manga has been very successful, and I don’t understand why there would be publishing rights as issues with the manga. The end of this chapter states anime but that could be miss translated. I know 309 does say the manga will continue next time. This doesn’t add up I am sure the manga continues.

Wouldn’t an OVA still be considered the animated series? Doesn’t really matter how accurate you make the anime, it has already been foreordained that any sort of video production of Berserk has been canceled. However, I don’t know how true this is. I heard that there was a mistranslation and that what Miura actually said was along the lines of characters in anime like Guts not being shown, thus “Canceled”.

This is cruel; making us wait for a new chapter after just “recently” exploding onto the stage our beloved main character. It is hard to believe we have been waiting so long and yet last chapter was the most recent berserk chapter we’ve had to deal with. This is terrible news.

Any way, Berserk……Berserk……When will you return. No one knows. I don’t think even Miura knows himself. In the interview he stated that he works 15 or so hours in a day so…what the hell…15 hours a day and we wait months without a chapter? Either there is something I’m missing about this process or Miura is slacking hardcore.

Well, usually I would say, Carlos, that you are right about berserk coming out in 2010, but with Miura’s Bullshit I probably even doubt that.
I believe the petition is wrong in that it says let it finish already, as if to hint to the author rush to an ending. As fans many of us would like the release to be consistent every 2 weeks or every month or two with say a lengthier chapter like 40 or 50 pages. Whatever the case we want an ending to be very well done and we want to learn more of the berserk world and see many more battles and witness at least some mysteries unravel in this fascinating manga. I don’t believe this can or will end anytime soon, but it would be great to see the chapter releases start to pick up somewhat. Whatever the case this is iconic work and Miura is fairly consistent in terms of the amount of material completed per year which is about a book or two. In my mind we should enjoy whats been done in this manga and PRAY for many more chapters of bloodshed, suffering, pain, mystery, battles, godhand, behilet, zod, to come. New days are upon us my friends, perhaps a new year will bring forth much more Berserk.

Okay so I just bought Volume 32 of Berserk and it is this volume that really started the whole infamous Berserk impatience. I remember because it was around this volume when the Hawk’s war started that people started frantically complaining about perpetually extended waiting hiatuses for the next chapter within the “One” volume of Berserk.
As I read the volume, I looked for how long the chapters where and what happened in the chapters.
In one chapter all it is is two women learning how to use magic. Big deal
In another chapter, it is the hawk waging war against a troop of Kushan as they get stamped by elephants. Plot wise, this does nothing. Sure it may look beautiful, but its as plot moving as the credits at the beginning of a movie.
Another chapter just has guts falling asleep due to exhaustion and Zodd telling the reader that griffith is close by but if Guts tries anything he is a goner. Wow….cock tease? All that chapter did was make the reader think something was going to happen, but then realize there is a whole other grandiose arc of events that must unfold before the griffith Guts battle.
However, in this Volume’s “defense” it does has plot moving devices where griffith is announced heir to the throne of midland and the “battle” between ganishka and griffith is “set”. However, this is but the beginning. Like slow mortal death. it is but the start to an everlasting season of pain. Just wait for Volume 33 when things really get abhorrently torturous and slow paced, so slow, it is aggravatingly annoying.
@Skillz, well I work, you should probably do the same.
Skillz if you think the series is slowing down, then what volumes had much more going on! I believe miura is fairly consistent granted some volumes less then others but the pace I believe has been very good. Saying that volume 32 is slow you could likely say the same thing about volume 5 or any other volume for that matter. In volume 5 guts squares off against zod, grifith rises a little in ranks and there is a battle – a great volume in my mind. I think we all have to remember here that we are not reading a novel but an epic comic book. 32 changes the focus from guts to grifith and the notion that is next in line to be King is a major league big deal in this manga as it contradicts the royal idealogy. Also beside grifith is the pope. In Volumes 30 and 31 guts and company took quite a beating and faced some pretty solid enimies like an armies worth, tons of action, drama, blood and so forth. I could go on and on but there is no slowing of the plot if anything things get bigger, better and so does the artwork and it makes the reader want to turn the page. Great stuff in my opinion. I think what does us in is if we are true diehards and want to see the next chapter which we know likely wont come out for a while. I think we all need to relax live our lives and check in once in a while. I know I’ll be buying volume 33 and 34 and will continue supporting the english release.
Also miura has been consistent in releasing volumes at the rate of 1 to 2 a year, so I don’t believe he realy is slowing down. I honestly would not blame the guy if he took a year break afterall he has been working his magic for 20 years!
@Bob: All I’m trying to say is that I can really recall my past when I look at volume 32. With it, I can see why I was so pissed off all the time. And didn’t I just agree with you that volume 32 was significantly important? I agreed, but you didn’t listen to ME. You didn’t notice all the other chapters that dwindled in pace. And as i said, This is a Start. Volume 33 is where the chapters become epically Sl00000W. Just watch. Buy volume 33 as I will, and look at each chapter significantly and on its own and imagine only having that one chapter for 4 months to half a year. Then tell me I’m wrong if you must, which I know you will do, but you will know I am right.
Either way, I am a die hard fan of this series and if I pay for the series and I am a part of the forums and I spread the word of “Berserk” so that others can read it, then I will bitch about it as much as I want because I know I’d be able to run this show at a much faster rate.

As one can imagine, while Miura put huge effort in “Berserk”(as every single panel distinctly shows) he has not much time for any other projects that might interest him. What would you do if you wanted to do something else in Miuras shoes? You would probably say:
“Yes, I would like to accept the offer and do the project you mentioned, but not until I finished the actual major story-arc.” So guess what.
You obviously have not read his latest interview then. Miura stated he does not want to do anything after “Berserk”. Neither would I. Guy makes bank.

So the reason why translated chapters of 310 hasn’t been out in a long ass time is because Miura hasn’t been releasing? If he takes 1-2 years for each release than by the time this series is finished all the fans would be old men already. Oh well, what can you do?

For those of you that haven’t heard yet, the new Berserk chapter is supposed to be out in just 4 more days! That’s 1/22/10. If it does indeed come out then, we’ll get it out to you as soon as we can. Just hang in there, the wait for the next chapter is almost over!
