Berserk 310 – Evil_Genius

Berserk 310 Preview

A new chapter at last and promise of yet another in the near future. Let's hope we get a good half dozen before the summer break. Does getting burnt up make you stronger? Maybe it's like tempering.

So, is Guts really any stronger? I think he needs to be.

Also, many thanks to Evil-Genius for this!

First, glad to see a new release date.
Second, what new anime are you talking about xercism?

  • themajormel says:

    Finally!

Felt like I've been waiting forever.

Good chapter, glad to see guts in his usual form.

  • CyberNinja says:

    AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tietsu says:

I do believe that Miura himself mentioned that the new Anime had been canned by execs. He mentioned something about how he thought there was a market for it but...

But yeah unless I've missed something new and semi-official I would consider it a dead end...

  • Scandinavian says:

A great way to kick things back into gear. Lets hope this speedy delivery of kickass continues. I don't wanna have to sit through 3 more chapters of every one explaining the pirate situation and then more pirate battling. Just get to Elfhelm!

  • Rob says:

If he is any stronger and or healed quicker then I assumed its because of the merging of worlds. It makes sense, we might get some explanation either by Schierke or once we hit the island hopefully before 315 at least.

  • Wants more says:

God damn... why did this take months to come out? MONTHS1!?!?!

    Lazy... so lazy...

We're going to have to watch the story unfold at a snail pace. Great.

    • Grateful Fanbase says:

You know that the author works about 16 hours a day 6-7 days a week on Berserk don't you?

Even during breaks in the publication he is still hard at work planning how the story will pan out several episodes later without conflicting anything from previous episodes >> chapters >> arcs.

A series as well thought out, written, and illustrated as Berserk does not get produced without an obscene amount of planning. If anyone would disagree I dare them to produce something better :)

      • I totally agree with you GratefulFanbase.

Some readers seem to think it's like making hamburgers... something he just whips up at the last minute, then he hibernates all winter or plays idol master for 6 months at a time. If that were true, imagine what he could do if he just applied himself, hehe.

Berserk is obviously the result of not only a masterful artist but very hard work.

Actually the release schedule gives me an idea for some research... I'll be back on that point.

      • Bob says:

Its great to see some backing miura. Very nice comment.

      • blurpox says:

Yea he does some mega planning but is also true that he takes breaks to not do anything and just play idol master.. and he does that for months!! his work is great but he also lately is lacking of interest in finishing the story

      • Grateful Fanbase says:

No, it is true that he took a break and played idol master.

  • Alex says:

    At last!!

After so many months waiting, we have berserk back!!

  • Shinigami says:

    1st page, 1st panel:
"Yea, get'em! - I am sick of waiting around"

That was exactly what I felt when I saw that a new chapter is out. XD

  • G1ov3s says:

WHOOOO!!! TELL ME WHY TELL ME WHY BESERK WAS GONE SO LONG

  • Wrath says:

    New chapter. hurray......

  • Ahmed says:

Finally :) the chapter is com aaaaaaah thanks guys for the work

  • Berserker says:

just in time now that conan is off...good thing Leno doesnt know anything about Berserk

  • Grateful Fanbase says:

I think the first order of business for Guts to get any stronger is to see whether or not the astral wounds inflicted by Slan in volume 26 have finally healed up or not like his Physical burns did when the wave of light washed over the world in episode 306.

Time will tell. It feels great to have the series back.

  • Wrath says:

It feels good to feel good. Thank you Berserk.

  • nikola_serbia says:

Can anybody give me addres or link or something for Oh-Rohden? That is another Miura`s manga. i read Oh-Roh, but i can`t find Oh-Rohden on the net! And is there some other manga or comic that someone of you could recommend me?

  • Bain says:

Got a question... is guts sword of steel or iron? Gona make a 50-60 kilo version to have and play around with at home hehe (I am a power lifter)
It must be steel right? I could not hold up to all the damage if it was iron? or could it?

  • Scandinavian says:

Bain...are you serious? A true replica of the sword or just something that looks like but weighs way less and thus sucks?

    • Tim the Sorcerer says:

From the look of it, he wants to make the actual sword. 50-60 kilos is quite a lot- that's over 120 pounds. I'm not sure it would by as thick as Guts' sword, but it wouldn't suck that much.

I think it would hold up to damage if it was made out of either material, but steel would be both stronger and lighter. I would use steel, as you wouldn't have to scale it down as much due to the lighter weight of the material.

  • Wrath says:

I wish Isidoro would die soon.

  • MrWezlum18 says:

maybe he got so burned up that he can no longer sweat... than he'll go into total blood rage mode like Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin... that would be awesome... ...until he spontaniously combusts...

  • oraionsan says:

ammm... guys. about guts'es swors weight... its about ten times a normal sword, and a real normal sword weighs (at least in our world) only 1-1.5 kilo, so guts'es sword isnt that heavy. almost anyone can lift it- but of copurse, fighting with it is almost impossible.

    • Mister-Useless says:

Yeah sure, ALL effin swords in this world (nevermind their size, structure and/or material) ALL way 1 to 1,5Kg... yeah sure, tell that to a Zweihänder (which fyi can weigh up to 10Kg, blade alone ! ^^...)

  • Grateful Fanbase says:

I beg to differ about the weight, if you put 10 normal swords in a pile, that pile (including all the empty space inbetween the different parts of the 10 swords) probably would not even equal 1/2 of the volume of the Dragon Slayer. To make thing simpler. remove the handles from each of the swords and the handle from the Dragon Slayer. Then make the same comparison to really see what I'm talking about.

Now I'm certainly not a sword expert, but just by imagining the difference in volume between 1 normal sword and 1 dragon slayer, I would esitmate that the DS should weigh At Least as much as 25-30 swords. Still making it possible for anmy grown man to lift, but certainly more realistic than 10 - 15 kilos if you think about how much trouble Isidro had just trying to lift the handle off the ground when he tried to steal it back in volume 18.

Any experts want to chime in?

    • Tim the Sorcerer says:

I'd say that Guts' sword looks about as heavy as a couple of railroad ties put together. Solid iron can get really heavy.

    • Patrick says:

I read an article where a guy broke it down to estimated length, thickness, and shape of his sword. Then based on how they refer to it as a slab of iron (or steel, my memory is unclear). Anyways, the guy did all the math and the estimated weight of the Dragon Slayer was 500-600 lbs.

I'm sure someone could do the same thing, get an estimated height for Guts or the sword, and ultimately get the volume of the sword. Then figure out what they said it was made of, determine the average weight per volume for that material, and finally multiply it out. Alternatively, they could find that same article - I read it some years ago.

      • jRPGFan says:

I found this info in a Berserk game walkthrough for PS2. The calculations, as well as the walkthrough were done by Masamune167:
"I approximate the sword, with handle, to be around seven feet tall, roughly 1.5 feet wide, and four inches thick at its thickest point. It is made of Iron (Fe), Atomic Number: 26, Atomic weight: 55.845 amu. Iron nuclei are said to be very stable, but is historically combined with carbon or alloyed with other metals. Pure iron is very susceptible to corrosion in humidity and has moderate magnetic properties. I would estimate the weight of Dragonslayer to be in the range of 210 - 295 pounds (95.2544 - 133.8097 kg).
These are NOT official or to be taken at face value, they are simply my educated guesses. To put that into perspective, a typical Scottish claymore is about 50 inches long while weighing around 7 - 11 pounds. Even the largest swords ever made to be handled by one person never exceeded 20 pounds."

  • Wrath says:

Well you got to figure in that some one had to bring that dragon slayer around. Godo himself was able to put that thing in the workshop, and normal soldiers were able to take the sword away from him and place it in Farny's camp so it must not be THAT happy.

    • Patrick says:

Whatever dude, Godo is a gangster. Hehe

Yeah, I'm not sure how much truth there was in the guy's article, or how much we can or should relate the Berserk universe to our own. It's still gonna be pretty damn heavy I think, or happy as you say. :D

      • Vodka says:

well it is heavy " happy " and some ppl can LEFT it and Sweng couple of time with it but it's;; be VERY slow attacks , not sure if it'll be sharp attacks as well.

But when Gutts rise that sword , he sweng it with speed lighting , and it's like a dagger to him , and it's cut anything , thats why ppl when thay see him , thay can't belive how strong he is , useing that BIG , heavey swrod with this speed and this power.

    • F says:

no, I think it's a very happy sword

  • FenderMan says:

FINALLY!!! And there's a new chapter coming!!!

  • Wrath says:

    Hahah happy sword.

I hope that becomes an internet meem sometime soon. I can take claim to it. Wrath's MeeM ^^.

But I really wanna know. Also, Im wicked pissed Godo is dead....this is such shit. I wish he had an epic death at least or something...idk....it was just so.....sullen...and....quiet.

    • Anoniguy says:

He went into the hills so he could live a quiet life, and got to die with dignity and calm. That's the best anyone in Berserk-land could ask for.

And about the sword.. I figure that it took a few normal dudes to heave that big fucker around. Even Gut's old broadsword from the golden age was so big that Griffith - not a weakling - could barely lift it, let alone wield it.

      • Bob Ross says:

Every one knows Griffith sucks cock and likes getting his dick wet to old men so......he's a pussy and can't lift shit besides frail women, rapiers, clothes, and other easy to lift object objects :)

  • oraionsan says:

guys. a Zweihänder (wich is the bigest sword ever used in actual combat) is 6 feet long, about 3 inches wide, 1 inch thick and it weighs 7 pound (and that is a realy big Zweihänder, a normal one is smaller).
the dragon slayer is 7 feet long, 1 feet wide, 4 inch thick (that's at least what i think). 7 (whieght of Zweihänder)*4 (thichness multiply)*1.1666(length multiply)*4 (width multiply)= 130.6666 pound, which is 58.8 kilo. wait, i think i got it wrong...
