Can’t we all be friends? Berserk’s fan base is small enough as it is compared to all the fad mangas like naruto(sp?) and bleach. Can’t we just have the mutual respect for being the ones smart or lucky enough to have discovered the genius that is Berserk. SK.net geting a personal letter from Miura is not just a win for SK.net but a win for all of us. EG’s translations and others who do translations and anything that spreads the manga is a win for us all.

how can the addition of pirates possibly make something worse? Plus in a world like Berserk, it stands to reason that if you go near the sea there will always be pirates.. it’s like the law that the nobles will be corrupt and the church will be full of evil bastards. I was a bit disappointed when they turned out to not be human when they reappeared though.
Speaking of which, if Griffith’s wind of chaos or whatever changed them into monsters why wasn’t anyone on Guts’ ship affected? Ok so they had a witch on board, but it’s not like she was expecting it or had time to put a barrier up. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few people changed but no-one noticed yet..
Also, a remote fishing community that worships Cthulhu? I don’t mind a few months delay getting to Elfheim there.. especially as the whole place looked exactly like any number of ruined villages on the western isles of Scotland. Fish drying on racks made out of driftwood on an island with no trees. I like how well-thought-out the details are in Berserk.
Dude, you clearly need to reread the last few chapters concerning the pirates. They weren’t turned into apostles (or whatever they are…) because of the light/wind caused by Griffith cutting open Ganeshka (forgot how it’s spelled).
Instead, those pirates were turned into what they are BECAUSE of the octopus-like sea-monster that attacked them, turning them into some kind of alter ego, like the “apostle with no name” (the one that was shaped like a Behilit) could do
It is unfortunate that we are not at the Elf island yet..but you know what, if Miura will keep releasing chapters every 2 weeks, I won’t mind even if there are chapters where we get nothing other than Guts talking to his sword. Hopefully there will be no more breaks.

This chapter is called Elf island and then underneath that title it is called Solitary Island.
It is remotely possible that this island *is elf island because the girl can see Puck and having the worlds merge the elf island is now part of this island where as before they would have to do some magic with Schierke to reach elf island…Much like the trolls if you follow me. It’s too hard to tell yet and its probably just wishful thinking on my half but we shall see soon enough.

idk if your story about being a grad student is true or not, but I do agree with you. I think it’d be healthy for us all to express how fucked up Miura has been for the fast few years. As I have done before, I have looked at the plot progression from volume to volume and I noticed a decrease in relevancy as soon as Volume 28 hit. Miura really is screwing around and the sooner we all realize this and get it off our chests the better we are gonna feel; instead of these fuckin optimists on the net talking about chilling out and just waiting. We dont got no more time to wait. might as well let out some agression in the form of fuckin words.

you know that the delay between the puplications doesnt mean that Miura isnt developing the story, he even draws all that amazing drawings all by himself (Studio Gaga only helps in minor things).
and besides Berserk is the only manga that I have seen that has tragic story, great characters, awesome dark fantasy and not to mention the fantastic development of its drawing.

Umm, maybe these optimists are just patient people who are confident the story will get back on track, if they even think it has been “off track” with boring story arcs (I personally don’t, I mean Griffith just changed the WORLD within the last few chapters). I think their lack of interest comes from two frustrations: They aren’t seeing enough Guts, they want to see him doing something epic. And two, Berserk is no doubt a slow manga, and they are simply use to weekly manga. Well, I like Guts too, he is my favorite character along with Griffith, but I realize that all chapters can’t be about what I like. Different fans like different characters, and Miura focuses on different characters for good reasons. And when you honestly read things back to back I have NO problem with recent Berserk. Actually the only arc I had trouble reading through, the one with all the elf-kids, was quite a while ago in the manga now. I don’t think Berserk is progressively getting worse at all, I think Miura is setting a good pace story wise (as in chapter to chapter, not how often chapters come out)
But as a long term Berserk reader I see these posts EVERY single chapter, no matter how epic most of us think the chapter is. It’s not exactly fair to say this but if you think the pace is too slow and reading Berserk chapter by chapter frustrates you, then take a good, long break and then read a few chapters back to back. Its simply not right to bash Miura relentlessly because he doesn’t come out with the manga as fast as you want, the man has said he works like 16 hours a day, what do you want him to do? So, You don’t got any time to wait? Do you want Miura to do work 24/7 without food or sleep? I certainly don’t because that wouldn’t help Berserk at all.

And keep in mind, he has very little help with what he does. I work 10-12 hours a day and would dread being him. I can draw well, and make my own stories all the time. Still, I simply couldn’t do what he does even if I had the talent. I’ve tried to make chapters and a single page takes me all day, then when i’m done i’m really sore. It’s funny how sitting at a desk can be almost as bad as standing all day.
He’s not drawing and writing for 15 hours a day. I bet you he spends most of his time researching AKA Dicking around :p

Berserk has been around a while. Maybe there’s also a difference in readership… where one group more frequently buys. Anytime I go to the bookstore I see kids laying around reading the shonen titles like it’s the library.

As for the time he spends drawing or developing his epic story I dont mind that cuz all that makes the story more and more closer to the fans.
I was talking today to an ex-fan of berserk who said that they noticed how Miura is a regular nerd who has just gotten bored of Berserk and so because nothing was making sense he stopped reading Berserk. If Guts were to just shorten the span of this manga he would have been a total fan and none of us would be in this situation. Miura took way too long to tell even half of this story and even still Miura is making new plot twists.

Some people might have shorter attention spans than others, I personally have no problem making sense of it.
Guys, Miura’s attention when he started writing Berserk was to make it a 100 volume manga but he said that he’s about 60-70% of the story so whatever long u think it will take, in miura’s mind he already has a plan and not making it along the way, he’s just polishing his only epic story that is considered his life sort of speaking.

This wasn’t the correct chapter to comment in but the raws of 312 are out and all it says at the end is something along the lines of “see you next time”. Historically that always has meant that the date of the next release is not known at this time.

Based on the idea that Berserk was confirmed to be 60-70% done 3 years ago it is safe to assume that Berserk is well on its way to completion. Let’s give Berserk some more time and enjoy basking in the glory.
Besides, tons of stuff has happened. Emperor Ganishka is dead and the new world us upon us. Femto is revealed and Griffith has gained control over his Falconia. Now we just have to wait for the story to pick back after such an epic climax.

Give or take a year I think we can all agree that 70% is a good round number at this point. However it’s still a long way. We have to get to elfhelm still then get back then fight their way to Griffith and I would assume the final fight will be a volume by itself. Then a volume of wrap up and its over. I’d bet 50 volumes. Give or take.
50 volumes doesn’t sound too bad. We are on volume 35 right now. Who knows, it’ll probably be less!! ^_^ Where we are now at volume 35 – > The gang is going to get to Elfhelm once they get off this island. That means probably 5 volumes of this arc. So that will bring us to volume 40. Then, guts and the gang will be ready to fight griffith with the knew knowledge they have the events that will unfold. They will go toward Falconia, storm the gates, and raise some Hell. That has got to be like 7 volumes right there. Finally, 3 volumes of fighting and diplomacy. 1 volume of the final battle with Griffith. 1 volume of wrap up and nostalgio. This seems to go along with the way Miura writes.

Screw the armor, Guts was way cooler without it. A human beating monster without any outside help, now everybody can say its because of that stupid armor that he can win. Ihop he get rid of it.
But then how the hell is he supposed to catch up the Griffith? He needs to be a monster to catch up, so I think Guts is going to have his own Eclipse or Eclipse like event.

First of all, the behilit is Puck’s.
Secondly, I also greatly dislike the armor, as Guts is at an extreme disadvantage outside of 5 minutes of grade A bad assery. Plus the armor isn’t that Guts-like, and he tends to notice he’s losing himself, even without the armor on. And now he looks even more like Auron from FFX (even tho Guts came first) with the white patch of hair that the armor gave him.
yeah but you gotta admit that the monters are way past the level of the human berserk now. Plus the armor looks bad ass it’s like batman
