Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler Bluray
As you guys know Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler came out this week on Bluray and DVD. The Bluray package I received included a highlight CD produced by Shiro Sagisu. This CD offers 3 mixed tracks, two of them suites, but the last one was an acoustic version I didn’t hear on the films soundtrack. I uploaded the acoustic track, check out the video below.
This package also included an “explanatory booklet” which cracked me up at first, but includes some cool sketches and a psychological history of Guts! I went ahead and scanned that for everyone (see gallery below for full booklet) – maybe someone will be kind enough to translate the interesting parts.
I won’t talk about the movie just yet… everyone knows the story, but there’s no reason to spoil how things go in this condensed version. I don’t think most of you have had a chance to see it for yourself just yet, so we can revisit this topic soon. I am sure the fansubbers are hard at work. For those of you interested in getting this now, it is available on amazon.co.jp which does international shipping and is discounted through the end of the month.
For now I leave you with this!
EDIT: Thanks to note from Carlos/titogod

Music of Berserk Golden Age
Music plays a big part in our enjoyment of movies and anime series. This music might excite us because we know a fight is coming on, it might accompany a meaningful monologue, or be the opening song to our favorite series.
Susumu Hirasawa should be familiar to all Berserk fans of the original animated series for his song “Forces”. He has a new track “Aria” that was heard in the trailer for Egg of the Supreme Ruler and is the title track of the film. You can listen to the short version right here. Download provided below.

The film’s soundtrack is composed by Shiro Sagisu whose work you have probably heard on Evangelion and Bleach. Hearing a choir chant “Blood and guts and guts and blood…” had me do a double take at first, but without seeing the film the soundtrack seems fitting. This will have to tide me over until I see the movie.

Berserk Animation Comparison
I’ve heard some talk about how the animation for the new movies isn’t as dark as the old one. Since I haven’t seen the Berserk anime series in a couple years I decided to put together a quick comparison video with the Trailer for the first movie. I’m not really good at the video editing stuff – but I thought it might be a nice discussion topic for Berserk fans.
So, what do you think? New animation style, or the old? And why?
Here are a few screenshots too:
Berserk Gashapon by Charazo
I ordered these at some point in 2009 I believe, but they just arrived in the mail on Friday – yeah, I know. Anyway, I got a chance to open them up and take a look at them and was really surprised. These little guys are quite detailed and feel solid.
The Skull Knight was easily my favorite, the sword was a separate piece. I also ended up with a duplicate Slan and Femto. Anyone else out there collect these and want to trade? What Berserk figures or collectibles are on your desk? Well, they’ll definitely be fighting it out here on my desk for the foreseeable future.

Berserk on Your Home Console
Capcom’s upcoming Action/RPG Dragon’s Dogma is about a month away, and could be a good time based on what I’ve read and seen. The game will feature DLC costumes for the main character in the form of Guts and Griffith from the Golden Age Arc films. Capcom has a sort of dirty history when it comes to DLC in my opinion, but if I was going to play through the game anyway, why not play as Guts or Griffith? I’d consider it an ersatz Berserk game. Anyway, for those interested, check out the game trailer and some screenshots of the DLC in action.
Accessing the Legacy Forums
I’ve been working on setting up the new website, and I decided at last to make it live. One of the new features is a member/group forums, however, this is just a test. If folks prefer the old forums, then we will continue to use them. I’ve added a navigation link to the top of the page to the “Legacy Forums.” There will likely continue to be some bumps on the main site as I iron out a few things, but anyway, thanks for visiting!
And yeah, it’s me.
